• Putting Punk With My Pink Panther

Putting Punk With My Pink Panther

I have been moving towards abstraction and colour in my Landscape Moods 2016 Collection. It was while I have been working on my mixed media paintings for Flux Exhibition that I felt drawn to work with other, brighter colours, along side the metallic, earthy colours.

I drew inspiration and direction from a open call for ‘London Punk Revisited’ (which I have been selected for) art by my representative gallery, Degreeart.com. I felt this was a perfect opportunity to integrate neon paints and I started integrating flourescent pink as my first colour choice.

The first painting (shown below) features a range of colours with the focal colours purple, green and neon pink. The neon pink was high viscosity paint by Pebeo, which had a smooth and waxy finish. This painting was unplanned and painted from my mind with the focus in my mind of youth, energy and vibrancy. It was a feeling I used to have during my late teens, when I was rebelious and encompassed the attitude and colour palette of punk.

The second painting had a mixture of red and sea greens using the organic shapes of Colourcraft Brusho Crystal Colours. This background was enhanced by using an additional palette of purple, deep red, silver and neon pink with a mixture of palette knife and brush techniques. It was after this piece was completed that I realised the piece had a horse or unicorn in the middle when viewed a certain way up (shown below). This piece was created in a landscape orientation.

I have created other artworks since which are shown below:
