Neon Fluorescent Paint Adds A Soft Night Glow

In The New Landscape Moods Collection

Above: ‘Spotty Punk’d Panther’ with only with television ‘light’

It was by pure chance that I found out the effect these paints show under low lighting, such as just a television. The collector who bought the painting ‘Pink Punk’d Panther’ (shown above) had only small spot lights on in their kitchen and the artwork came alive. It was then that I realised that the neon paints I have been using contained fluorescent pigments. This allowed them to glow under low light conditions, such as a television or small kitchen lights. The effect means they are not glow in the dark, which creates a bright light, but add an alternative extra dimension and a soft, subtle radiance.

These paintings are a new movement in my Landscape Moods collection of mixed media paintings. This was the first time I used neon fluorescent paint as bright highlights in these abstract artworks.
