If only trees could talk
“It was an article in the Telegraph that made me think about how beautiful trees are and how long they have stood, watching over us. Standing through hundreds or thousands of years, watching the world change so much. I know I treasure the trees in the U.K. and know I am very lucky to have them:
They fascinate me so much I have re-created them in paint, sculptures and even in my logo, shown below:
They have overseen our environment change through nature and by human hands. I have always wondered what they would say. It is times when I see trees brought to life in media such as: ‘The Lord of the Rings’ films as tree herder or an ‘Ents’ or in the film ‘Lucy’ when Scarlet Johanson reverses time to see what Times Square, New York looked like centuries ago.
Above: The photograph above is an ancient majesty Oak tree in Kent, UK
Here are other beautiful Oak trees, sadly some of the Oak trees in the UK have died due to disease or weather damage:
My work shows my fascination with the texture, shapes and the unique shapes UK trees around me:
My metal clay work and the clock called ‘A Stitch in Time, Saves Nine’ (displayed below exhibited at The Royal College of Art in Flux) focus on two Oak trees”
